One of the most highly anticipated rock albums of the decade has been released much to the elation of the music press and fans across the globe. BangTower is a progressive musical alliance featuring legendary bassist Percy Jones, who is best known for his work with Brand X, a band that also featured Genesis legend Phil Collins. Along with Jones, the power-prog trio also includes Grammy winning guitarist/engineer/producer Neil Citron. Walter Garces, who also performs with '60s psychedelic marvels The Electric Prunes, rounds off the trio with his skillful drumming and percussion work. Their maiden voyage entitled 'Casting Shadows,' was produced by Neil Citron (who also engineered, mixed and mastered) and Jon Pomplin and was released internationally by Declassified Records in late September, 2010.

With Percy's unmistakable fretless bass sound percolating next to Walter's harmonic cannons and implements of percussive wonder, an edgy yet incredibly dreamy, otherworldly texture becomes prominent throughout the mix. Neil's unique guitar work takes full advantage of this partnership by blending gorgeous chordal interludes, amazing melodic passages interlaced with scathingly insane soloing. The key element in this “trio of masters" music can be best described with one word; rapport. credits released September 28, 2010

Album Notes by Neil Citron: Gregg and Matt and I sat in a room together and jammed for 6 hours. The result is this CD. Each song was played once and then cut down in length. Gregg and Matt played what came to them and no direction was given. This is like the old days when musicians actually got together and. just played off of each other and let the notes fall where they may. It was one of the greatest experiences of my music career. The only other person who helped was my assistant engineer Joan Fraley who started ProTools and stopped it when we stopped.

My thanks go out to all the companies that have supported my efforts always. EU Import - AUTOGRAPHED BY PERCY JONES Fretless bassist Percy Jones leads a post-fusion session featuring midi vibe player Marc Wagnon, guitarist Van Manakas & drummer Frank Katz; album includes 2 live tracks recorded at CBGB's & The Knitting Factory.

"Percy Jones has been on the cutting edge for so long, it's a wonder he hasn't been sliced to ribbons by now. Undeterred by commercial considerations, he keeps forging ahead, adding more and more weapons to his arsenal of fretless techniques and writing thick threatening fusion (here performed with guitarist Van Manakas, drummer Frank Katz, and MIDI vibist Marc Wagnon). Jones has said he'll try anything to make the bass sound like it usually doesn't, and he's highly successful at it here." -- J.R., Bass Player Magazine

AUTOGRAPHED EU IMPORT (Percy Jones). "Missing Period" from Brand X. Originally released in 1997, Missing Period represents some of the earliest Brand X recordings. Some mystery about its origins remains, although bassist Percy Jones confidently claims that they were 1976 BBC radio broadcast recordings (with one live track from Ronnie Scott’s). Three of the tracks here are prototype/alternative versions of tunes that surfaced on other albums (Born Ugly from Moroccan Roll is here in an earlier form as Dead Pretty, for instance). IMPORT (EU)

AUTOGRAPHED BY PERCY JONES. - Disc one consists of ten previously unreleased live recordings in reverse chronological order, from the 1997 Manifest Destiny tour to the group's initial mid-'70s lineup, when Phil Collins and Robin Lumley were the band's drummer and keyboardist. Unsurprisingly, this disc gets more interesting as it goes on, reaching its pinnacle with the rocking (but annoyingly muddy-sounding) "Don't Make Waves." Disc two technically is not Brand X at all, but a sampling of extracurricular projects by group leaders John Goodsall and Percy Jones, in tandem and separately.

EU Import AUTOGRAPHED BY PERCY JONES Percy recorded Cape Catastrophe in 1988 and 1989 at a studio in East Harlem. Using an array of the era's available hardware, Jones laid down tracks ranging from two-and-a-half minutes to over 23 minutes in length, and then accompanied the tracks live on his five-string (Wal V, for those interested in brands) bass as the direct-to-digital recording was made. The results were generally quite impressive, and stand the test of time into the new millennium. There is certainly a lot here for electric bass-aholics to enjoy; Jones' burbles, pops, and plonks are all here, and his tone on the sustained notes is rich with harmonic overtones as expected.

EU IMPORT - AUTOGRAPHED BY PERCY JONES - Fretless electric bassist Percy Jones has carved out his place in fusion and progressive rock during his longstanding affiliation with the bands Brand X and Tunnels. Furthermore, Jones represents one of the early innovators of the electric bass despite a lack of widespread recognition. Yet, since the mid-'70s, the artist's signature sound and style to coincide with his enviable chops has at times, been overshadowed by others who reside a bit closer to the limelight. Otherwise, the bassist, along with funk/fusion/bebop drummer Mike Clark and others, help spearhead a studio session brimming with East Indian overtones, zestful rhythms, and EFX treatments. Here, Jones' pumping lines, harmonics, and somewhat angular attack serve as the guiding force, as his ensemble pursues a series of jagged themes interspersed with punchy rhythms and atmospheric synths. This 1990 release also features famed violinist Shankar, who along with Jones, intertwine a series of Eastern modalities into the grand scheme of things, whereas Joe Sofia offers his pleasingly melodic if somewhat unspectacular vocalizations on two pieces.
